Description
WAAW (Working to Advance STEM Education for African Women) Foundation is a 501(c) non-profit organization founded in 2007. Our mission is to increase the participation of African girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related disciplines, and to ensure that this talent is engaged in African innovation.
WAAW provides opportunities for quality STEM programming for African girls, aged 11 to 30 years as a means to close the economic, innovation and achievement gap for African women in the 21st century global economy. Our initiatives include:
(a) STEM robotics summer residential camps for secondary school girls (Ages 13-17 yrs);
(b) Scholarship awards to female college students studying STEM disciplines (Ages 18-30 yrs)
(c) STEM secondary-to-college outreach and mentoring programs, which bridges the STEM camp and scholarship programs.
(d) Code workshop for girls (Ages 11-17 yrs)
